Four down - one to go.  I survived the beginnings of my new teacher orientation.  (Even though I'm REALLY, REALLY starting to freak out about the beginning of the school year!)  Camp ends tomorrow.   So, no more long, long, long, hot, hot, hot days spent teaching a marching band show.  Oh WAIT!  There's always afterschool practices!  *sigh*  I'm physically and mentally drained right now....

Two days of band camp down... three to go...

Did you know:
-If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.  (Now, that hardly seems worth it.)
-The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.  (Wowza!)
-A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes.  (Whoa...)
-A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death.  (Gross... but, I'm still not over the pig thing.)
-The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body.  The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.  ("Hi honey.  I'm home.    What the?!?")
-The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.  (Now, what is so tasty at the bottom of that pond?)
-A cat's urine glows under a black light.  (Who got paid to figure that out??)
-Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.  (What about that pig?)

Off to catch Z's....

One down - four to go.  JCHS band camp has officially started, and I have one day done and under my belt.  Whew - excuse my French, but this has been a long ass day!  I was rudely awakened from my peaceful slumber at 6:45 or so this morning by a screeching alarm clock.  By 8am, I was on the field helping direct a practice.  From 8am-12:00, we're all outside learning drill and practicing fundamentals.  Lunch is from 12 to 1.  (Thanks Band Boosters for the free lunch!  Whoo hoo!)  1:00 to 4:00 are indoor sectionals.  4 to 6 is a WAY too short dinner break.  (For me anyway...) And 6:00 to 8:30 is the final session.  That's a really long day......  Oh well - enough complaining.  High school students crack me up.  They're all so funny in their own little ways.  Going to catch some Z's.    ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.......

Rookie Camp is over.  *HUGE whoppin' sighs of relief*   There's not much in the world more challenging mentally than teaching a massive group of new high school freshmen the fundamentals of marching band.  Whew - it was an adventure.  I'm at my parents' house for the weekend.   Britt (my 20 y/o bro) had his wisdom teeth taken out on Thursday.  The poor fella looks like a chipmonk.....   I'm glad that I haven't had to suffer through that surgery yet.  One of my wisdom teeth has just finished coming in.  (I feel like I've been teething for about two weeks - strange!)  I hope they all behave.   Full band camp starts Monday.   I hope I can handle the long days.

Band camp started today.....   oh listen to my sarcastic yelps of joy.  It's hot in Georgia in July - REALLY FREAKIN' HOT!  Oh well, come November and the marching show is looking awesome it'll all be worth it.  That's what I keep telling myself anyway.
Tim is incredible.  Just thought that I'd share that with the world!!  I'm tired as crap from teaching camp all day and he comes to my house to cook me dinner.  (Big collective AWWWW!!!!)  He's just SO sweet and considerate.  How'd I land this one, I wonder??
Props to my Nana for sending me a Wal-Mart gift card in the mail today!  That's always such an awesome surprise.  :o)

Have you ever been surrounded by people, yet you feel totally lonely?  *sigh*  I'm not physically surround by people currently, but today I feel lonely.  The new place just isn't feeling like a home yet.  I feel like I'm at a hotel and I'll be packing up and heading back home soon.  But, then I don't really feel like the aforementioned "home" is a home anymore.  I visited my parents about a week ago, only to find that my childhood room is now my mom's study.  No more trophies and certificates on the wall... no more of my childhood furniture....  It's strange and I don't like it.  I mean, I know that I can always visit my parents, and that there will always be a place for me to stay at their house.  But, it's not home anymore.  Hence, there is not home and here is not home.  I am emotionally homeless.
And, as much as I always wanted my own place with no roommates, I miss my roomies!  I miss someone always being there for a girl talk or a movie marathon.  I miss the noises of someone else being in the house.  It's WAY too quiet here.  Quiet enough that I decided to go to Wal-Mart and buy a roommate.  Introducing Reba.... my fish.  (Now, I know that fish do not make noise, and she won't cure the quiet factor.... but hey - it's another living creature in the house.)  Now, I'm glad that Reba is here... but, I don't think she's the smartest fish ever.  I fed her this morning....  she ate her little "beta pellet," then spit it out.  It feel into the rocks on the bottom of the bowl and she has spent all day with her head in the rocks trying to get the food.  Soooo strange.  Maybe I'll call Tim and see what's he's up to.........
