Your Birthdate: August 5

With a birthday on the 5th of the month you are inclined to work well with people and enjoy them.
You are talented and versatile, very good at presenting ideas.
You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times and need change and travel.

You tend to be very progressive, imaginative and adaptable.
Your mind is quick, clever and analytical.
A restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily bored with routine.
You may have a tendency to shirk responsibility

Unexpected four day weekend

Thanks to Governor Perdue, I've got a four day weekend. In an effort to aid GA's minor gas crisis, and save 240,000 gallons of fuel a day, he cancelled school in Georgia for two days. Can't beat that.... I'm about to buckle down on some housework. Then, I'm going to Staples for a new UPS Battery Backup for the computer. (Mine died last night.) Fun times...

I had a great conversation with an old friend last night - you know who you are...

Rock Lobster

Well, the good 'ole boys finally won a game... go JC! The band looked great - I'm loving this year's show.

Lee - I don't care if you think I write like a freshman! I could write magnificent prose if I choose to, but I like my short, spirited, to-the-point style! ;o)

Justin - shut up!

I'm going home tomorrow to see my parents. I haven't visited in over a month. That's such a strange feeling.

"I never hated a man enough to give the diamonds back." Zsa Zsa Gabor

I realize that the from the subject of the post it sounds as if I am having "boy troubles." Let me assure you, I am not... I merely find the quote hilarious!

Let me give you a run down of the week so far:

MONDAY: I got out of the car to walk into the school building, but was quickly asked by a principal to walk a group of children to the field behind the school. I didn't know why, but I always follow directions, so we walked. The students were confused, I was confused.... It was confusing overall. I was finally able to find out that someone had called in a bomb threat to my school. I could ALMOST sympathize with the person who considered taking out 600 middle schoolers. (Work a day in my shoes, and you'd understand too!) But, we sat in a field from 7:30am until almost 11am. It was 95 degrees outside. (Georgia is still freakin' hot in September!) It was a hoax - and the day was wasted.

TUESDAY: Yearbook Picture day... yikes, need I say more?

WEDNESDAY: Early release day - The students were bussed out at 1:15 so that teachers could have inservice meetings. What was our administrations assignment for the "Connections" team? "Oh, I don't know... Just meet and talk about something." *ugh*

That brings us to now... I'm tired, but glad to be relaxing for a little while before I cook dinner. (Cheesy Quesidilla Hamburger Helper if anyone is interested in sharing!) :smooch:

Gooooooo Dawgs! Sic 'Em!

Tim, James, Sarah Beth and I went to the UGA v. University of LA Monroe game yesterday. It was sooooo much fun! I haven't been to a Georgia game in a few years, and you forget how cool it is to walk into a stadium and see nothing but red, black and white. I had a blast!
The game was pretty much a UGA blowout (44-7, I think.) The band sounded great - I've always loved the Redcoats. When I was younger (Middle/High school), I just KNEW that I'd go to UGA and march... I KNEW it. Then, when it came time to actually choose a school, I choose UGA's polar opposite, GC&SU. 24,000 less students, no football team... Sometimes I feel like I missed out on those experiences. However, I remind myself frequently that if I had attended UGA, I would have never had the opportunities that I had at a much smaller school. I actually had quite a few classes that were just me and the professor. How often does that happen at a school with 30,000+ students? I was able to participate in Concert band, jazz band, pep band, brass quintet, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble... would I have been able to gain those experiences had I been in competition with 50 other trombone players, and not 5 others? Who knows... I made the right choice for me choosing Georgia College and State University, but deep down, I still think I'm UGA gal.... Go Dawgs!

Why is there always so much month left at the end of the money?

Can I get an amen?!? It needs to be payday now... but, I've still got about two weeks to wait. There are so many things that need to be paid for. *sigh*

I sent in the registration for my students that will be auditioning for District/All-State Honor Band. I have a few that really have tons of potential, and that really could make it. *crossing my fingers*

Lundy and I ate at Waffle House after practice tonight... that's a wild and crazy man there!

Is it a good thing that my yogurt has "live acidophilus and bifidus cultures"?

Could I BE anymore random?!?

Do you take this man.......

Gabriel and Marshall's wedding was yesterday. It was BEAUTIFUL! It was in the yard of Gabriel's neighbor with a gorgeous garden arch as the alter. The reception was tons of fun! I usually leave fairly quickly after the reception starts, but we stayed and danced and had a great time! I'm so happy for them!

Ants in the pants

Something absolutely hilarious happened at marching band practice today. I'm sure that the girl that it happened to doesn't find it so funny, but I have to share. A clarinet chick laid her clarinet on the field during the water break tonight. While she was enjoying her water, ants crawled all over her clarinet. After the break, she didn't notice - picked the clarinet up and started to play like nothing was wrong. She began to feel a funny tickle in her throat and the suddenly it really hurt! Ants had crawled into her mouth and bitten her throat!! Can you believe that?!? Only in Jones County..... Holla!

4. I will say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. I will give you a nickname.
6. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll then ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. Put this in your journal

Wheat Thins and Pepperoni

Nobody gets more of a laugh - when he's not looking - than the show off who uses complicated words for the simplest thoughts. Remember Cliff, the postal worker on "Cheers"? Below is a well-known expression rewritten in a way that would make Cliff proud!

Think you know what it means? Leave a comment!

"To slay a brace of avian creatures with just a single petrous conglomeration."

*hehe* Diamonds might be cheaper!!
